Vin Diesel vs. The Rock
The other night at Larry’s, a discussion about professional wrestlers broke out. Being a huge fan in the day, of course I had to enter the foray. Alex was arguing the Ultimate Warrior was the greatest wrestler of all time, I argued The Rock was. We soon moved the argument to the best action star of today…Vin Diesel or The Rock. All the ladies are immediately saying Vin, but don’t make the decision so quick. Vin does have an impressive resume of movies. They include Saving Private Ryan, Boiler Room, The Fast & the Furious, Knockaround Guys, xXx, & The Chronicles of Riddick. All are awesome movies that rate high on any list. My favorite of these is Boiler Room but he doesn’t kill a single person in it. In fact, he is a stock broker. The fact remains he kicks a ton of ass in most of his flicks & is a stud the entire time. He also has 2 newer movies scheduled called Hannibal (Nothing to do with Siulence of the Lambs.) & Hitman that look awesome. As great as these are, he does has some notable titles that severely detract from his list though. These include Pitch Black & The Iron Giant. A movie I went into thinking I would love & ended up wanting to gouge my eyes out while watching was The Pacifier. It was just horrendous, is bad enough to take 3 or 4 of his great movies away. Dude needs to stick to kicking ass & quit trying expand his acting portfolio.
On the other hand, The Rock is a freaking pimp. His movie titles include Walking Tall, The Rundown, The Scorpion King, & The Mummy Returns…all kick ass. His new movie Doom, based on a video of the same name, at 1st sounded ridiculous. I was in the theater this weekend & it look s absolutely awesome. This alone might put him over the top if it is as good as it looks. He has one title that was horrendous in Be Cool & it was horrible. Quentin Tarintino sucks & this was another prime example of how bad. To his credit, The Rock is awesome in the movie, the movie just sucks. Although the start of The Rock’s movie career has been pretty solid, he gets the most credit for his work in the WWF or WWE or whatever the hell it’s called now. I feel like a video game nerd because I still have a Rock figurine in its package somewhere. He was a bigger wrestler than Hulk Hogan, & that is saying something. The Rock Bottom followed by the People’s elbow is the best finishing combo of all time (My boy Wyatt executes it with precision.) If you smell la la la la la la…. What The Rock… Is cookin’! You can’t overstate how much of the man he was.
Vin obviously has a better movie resume but lets be serious, his acting is ridiculously bad. The Rock has a limited movie resume but is way more charismatic & smooth as hell. Long term The Rock is taking off. I love both men so I guess all that is left is to vote. By vote I mean vote. I usually get a ton of unique hits on these but no one freakin’ votes. So I guess do the democratic thing… Vote or die!
