These Are the Days: 2006 Daytona Preview

I just woke & showered for a great day. Today is the Daytona 500, my favorite sporting event of the year. My brother just called to tell us his girlfriend got him 500 tickets. He will enjoy the hell out of those. I don’t know how great the race will be this year, but the season should be a lot of fun.

For the race of course Jr. & Harvick will be up there. Jr. always seems to be in the mix at the end, no matter how good or bad his ride is. I personally think Tony Stewart is the man to beat. Look for a good finish out of Robby Gordon too. Of course this all depends on who gets caught in the big wrecks & what not.

For the season, I really think Jr. will have a bounce back year. He flat out predicted top 3 in points & 6 or 7 wins before the playoff begins. There is Kevin Harvick who I think is going to bounce back this year & get into the chase. Dale Jr. has a new teammate in Martin Truex Jr., I think my man will win Rookie of the Year. He could have an outside shot at the Chase for the Championship. I am a huge fan. Harvick also has a new teammate in rookie Clink Bowyer. He may have the coolest looking car on the circuit & should have a decent year.

Those are the main for guys I root for, but I do cheer for a couple other people. I like Robby Gordon a lot. I have been a fan of his since he raced Indy Cars. My main man Tony Stewart rocks too. I hated him back in the day but I think he is the one guy that reminds me of Dale Earnhardt. He speaks his mind & then back it up on the track.
