Paul Dana

I think everyone knows I love racing. There is one thing I absolutely hate about racing…death. When you have cars going 250mph, something is going to happen at some point. It doesn’t make it any easier to accept. In my life I have seen too many good drivers pass away. Drivers such as Dale Earnhardt, Kenny Irwin, Adam Petty, Neil Bonnett, Greg Moore, Scott Brayton, & Ayrton Senna have all passed away in the last 10 years. I write this because another driver, rookie Paul Dana, passed away this morning following a crash for the season opening IRL race. The news is absolutely shocking...

Although great strides have been made in increasing safety in racing, I think it is on the racing organizations to really put some money into developing additional safety systems. Since the death of Dale Earnhardt, NASCSAR has really stepped up to the plate, however there is so much more that can be done. These are the guys making money for the sport, it is up to the sport to protect them.

In any event, RIP Paul…
