RT
We were easily the 2 youngest people there by 30 years. Seriously, I am not being sarcastic here. It was just a sea of enormous & white haired people. You expect the enormous doing anything in Wisconsin but holy crap, it felt like they emptied the bingo hall straight into the show along with every retirement home within 100 miles. Walkers & wheelchairs seemed to be the theme of the night. I thought old people went to bed at like 5, guess I was wrong. Maybe they handed tickets out at the ER, who the crap knows.
The overwhelming majority of old people didn’t catch me off guard at all. I was kind of expecting it. My parents brought me to enough old school country shows when I was a kid to understand the demographics of the situation. What was a surprise was how gay Cole & I looked. Seriously, we looked way, way homosexual. I don’t know if being single over the last year pushed us to both dress better or what exactly the deal is, but we have both become completely gay. We both critique each others look & discus our layering & whatever else. The optimist would call us just well dressed. It is straight out gay. That wasn’t even the topper. I knew way had gotten way out of control when I, getting ready, pulled out my compact to put cover up on. Now picture the 2 of us walking into this joint together. It looked like a date. I thank god my dad didn’t see me because he would have cried in front of me for the 1st time, of this I am sure.
Fast-forward to the show, RT is the man. I can’t even aptly describe to you how good he is. If you have even mildly listened to country radio over the last 10, you would recognize every song. His distinct country twang bellowed Forever & Ever Amen, 3 Wooden Crosses, & my personal favorite, I Told You So among many other hits. His voice is amazing, better than any other performer I have ever heard.
During the show Cole had this 50 year old MILF in a business suit next to him. On top of showing up buzzed to the show, she hammered beer the entire event. She went from singing along to standing up (nobody else in the joint was off their feet) to plain & simple busting a move. I don’t know if I have ever seen someone hit that much alcohol in a 2 hour period & still be standing. Had it not been for her enormous husband standing as a detourant, I think she was warm on my buddy. Guess we’ll never really know.
He closed with his 9/11 song, America Will Always Stand, as an American flag was raised as the back drop. The crowd loved it. We hit the exits & took off without a problem.
The night didn’t end there though. I headed to the local Wal-Mart & picked up the new Keith Urban DVD, Livin’ Right Now. It is off the hook. Here is a sight for you, me jamming out playing air guitar in my boxers at 2 in the morning all while belting out the lyrics at the top og my lungs. Days Go By opens it up & it doesn’t slow from there. He plays a new extended version of You’ll Think Of Me & closed up with Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me & These Are The Days. If you haven’t seen Keith, you’ll want to. The whole disc rocks.
Just before popping in the disc, I was looking at the newly released R&R Chart & saw something that brought a huge smile to my face. Tim McGraw released My Old Friend from Live Like You Dying CD as a single. He has a new album coming out so I had assumed they would release his new song off that, Let’s Get Drunk & Fight. My Old Friend is 1 of my 2 favorite songs on the disc. I absolutely love it. (Here’s a review I wrote of the CD) Between it & Like We Never Loved At All, Tim & Faith are going to have a couple songs on the top of the charts.
I might have something on Big Bro Big Sis next or some work I have in classrooms… Otherwise it has been a while since I have written a Dating Blog. Until then…
